Koris Restaurant, Shillong

Located in Shillong, Northeast India, KORI’S is a Korean casual dining restaurant where traditional Korean aesthetics are harmoniously combined with contemporary spatial design. Reflecting Shillong’s urban character—defined by its rich natural environment alongside a vibrant music, art, and café culture—the space brings together the energy of the city with a relaxed, nature-inspired atmosphere.

The design concept originates from “Jogakbo,” a traditional Korean patchwork pattern. The distinctive harmony of diverse colors and shapes found in Jogakbo has been reinterpreted in a modern way, resulting in the application of vivid colors and geometric patterns throughout the space. The bright and lively color palette adds visual vitality while creating a comfortable and inviting dining experience.

Inspired by traditional Korean wooden architecture, timber frames and lattice structures are used as partitions and spatial elements, reexpressing structural beauty through a contemporary design language. The semi-open configuration maintains visual openness while ensuring a stable and comfortable seating environment.

Through the outdoor terrace and landscape elements, the space creates its atmosphere and rhythm, completing a vibrant outdoor dining experience where younger generations can freely linger and enjoy themselves in a bright and lively mood.
